A Legacy of Faith, Family, and Barbecue Since 1969
Proverbs 16:3 is a well-known verse about trusting God with your daily life.
"Commit your work to the Lord, and your plans will be established."
Record’s Barbecue, Inc. was established in 1969 by Albert and Barbara Record, who opened a small barbecue restaurant during a time when Black-owned businesses were often overlooked and rarely given opportunities to succeed. However, their upbringing instilled in them the values of hard work, perseverance, and determination to provide for their family no matter the obstacles they faced.

Committed to Community, Driven by Purpose
Albert and Barbara were devoted parents to five daughters and one son, as well as loving grandparents, great-grandparents, and great-great-grandparents. Balancing family life and business ownership required tremendous sacrifice and dedication. Coordinating the many activities, appearances, responsibilities, and commitments of their children while successfully operating a business was truly a remarkable accomplishment.
Beyond their family and business, Albert and Barbara were deeply committed to serving their community. Their involvement reached families in need, schools throughout the Metroplex, churches, athletic organizations, little leagues, political groups, colleges, and universities. Albert also played a role in organizing Dallas’ first Black-owned bank, Sunbelt Bank. Although the bank did not ultimately succeed, he remained extremely proud to have contributed to such a historic and meaningful effort.

Rooted in Faith, Sustained by Support
Together, Albert and Barbara Record exemplified the spirit of service, leadership, and community empowerment. They were not only dedicated parents and successful business owners, but also faithful civil and public servants to their family and the greater Dallas Metroplex community.
Being in business for more than 50 years has not been an easy feat. Without a doubt, there have been challenges and struggles, along with many highs and lows throughout the years. However, because of the overwhelming support from their children, family, friends, and community, Record’s Barbecue, Inc. has truly stood the test of time.

Honoring Excellence Through Education
Albert and Barbara Record were honored to receive many awards, recognitions, and achievements over the years, but one accomplishment that now stands at the top of that list is the establishment of the Albert and Barbara Record Scholarship. For the past seven years, this scholarship has helped scholars pursue their dreams and goals of earning diplomas and degrees at the highest levels.
Education and uplifting those who desire to soar higher was something Albert and Barbara deeply valued and loved being a part of. This partnership and continued impact would not be possible without the unwavering support of the community, family, and loyal customers of Record’s Barbecue, Inc.

Preserving a Legacy Built on Faith
In honor of the late Albert and Barbara Record (2012 and 2025), our family remains deeply committed to continuing their legacy of loving the Lord, serving others through sharing and education, and providing delicious old-fashioned barbecue.
Record’s Barbecue, Inc. will forever be grateful for the opportunity to carry forward the values and vision that Albert and Barbara Record established with love, faith, and dedication.
